I am excited to announce that I am running for District Court Judge for Seat 10 in Forsyth County and I am truly thankful for the outpouring of bipartisan support that I have received.
For the past 25 years, I have had the honor and pleasure of representing residents in Forsyth County and surrounding counties in family law and criminal law matters. My extensive experience has allowed me to advocate for my clients in matters of every type in a variety of District Court courtrooms with a variety of District Court Judges.
As a judge, I will treat all parties appearing before me with respect, compassion, and equal application of the law. I believe in the Golden Rule – treat others as you wish to be treated. District Court is the People's Court.
There is no other level of court that touches every aspect of your life in the way that District Court does. Two thirds of the district court courtrooms are family law in nature. Family law matters of child custody, child support, equitable distribution, alimony, juvenile court, and civil domestic violence are exclusively handled in district court. Misdemeanor traffic, criminal domestic violence, preliminary felony matters, and other misdemeanor matters are also handled in district court. But it is the fundamental effect that our court system has on our families and our children that impacts our present life and our future. That is why my dual and extensive experience in family and criminal law matters.
The United States Constitution, the North Carolina Constitution, and the applicable case law protect and affect not only persons charged with a crime but they protect and affect your rights as a parent, your rights as a victim of crime, your rights as a business owner, your rights in child custody cases, and your rights in divorce and equitable distribution proceedings.
You deserve a judge with knowledge of those rights and the law.
I am uniquely qualified to represent you as your next District Court Judge. I am the only candidate with extensive experience in both family law and criminal law matters.
I chose the scales of justice as my logo rather than a gavel. Justice is not delivered with the swift hammer of a gavel. Justice is delivered with careful consideration, listening, and equal application. As a judge, I would be tasked with the careful weighing of the facts and then the equal application of the law to those facts. This is my solemn oath to you - that I will fairly and equally decide the facts and then apply the law as written.
